The Women’s Ministry of Pentecost International Worship Centre (PIWC)–Tesano, through its Breast Cancer Awareness Month Committee, carried out a month-long awareness campaign in October 2025 to promote education, early detection, and community engagement on breast health.
Daily Educational Outreach
Throughout the month, the committee disseminated educational content across church platforms, worship services, and ministry gatherings. The information covered key thematic areas, including understanding breast cancer, the importance of early detection, reasons for regular screening, and clarification of common myths associated with the disease. The daily updates aimed to equip women with accurate, accessible knowledge to support preventive health action.
Climax Event Held on October 26, 2025
The campaign culminated on Sunday, October 26, 2025, with a series of health-focused activities.
A guest presentation was delivered by Dr. Mrs. Abigail Kyei, who provided guidance on breast cancer awareness, preventive measures, and holistic wellness within a faith-based context.
Following the service, Urika Medical Centre partnered with the church to conduct free breast screening for members. As part of the collaboration, the Centre donated one hospital bed and one screening partition to support the exercise. Medical professionals from the Health Guild, including volunteer doctors and nurses, assisted with the screening process.
A total of 57 individuals were screened. Of these, three participants were advised to undergo further mammogram testing for more detailed assessment.
Additional Visibility and Participation Activities
To deepen community involvement, the campaign also included the distribution of pink awareness ribbons, the use of branded selfie frames to promote participation both on-site and online, and the wearing of pink attire by women and other members on designated Sundays.
Outcomes and Impact
The initiative resulted in increased awareness and understanding of breast cancer among church members, improved confidence in discussing health issues within the Women’s Ministry, and strengthened collaboration between the church and healthcare professionals. The free screening exercise also provided direct medical benefits, including referrals for further examination where necessary.
