Grace Conference Climax

Pastor Benedict Eghan delivered a sermon based on Luke 4:15-21, emphasizing that the
mandate of Jesus is also the mandate of the Church. He explained that whatever Jesus came to
fulfill on earth, the responsibility has now been given to the Church to continue. This passage is
a messianic prophecy, and as believers, our ministry must fulfill scripture.

He highlighted that the Church has been mandated to carry out everything outlined in Luke
4:15-21. If the Son of God needed the Holy Spirit to accomplish His mission, then believers
need Him even more. The only way to be useful and effective in God’s hands is to be filled with
the Holy Spirit—this is the standard for ministry.

Referring to Acts 6:1-4, Pastor Eghan pointed out that even in the early Church, when there was
a minor division regarding food distribution, the apostles chose seven men to handle the task.
The key requirement for these men was that they had to be filled with the Holy Spirit. He
emphasized how remarkable it was that even for food distribution, the Holy Spirit was essential.
This is because the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of wisdom and revelation. He explained that whether
one is serving tables or preaching, the standard remains the same. Whatever God has called
His people to accomplish in their world, they must be filled with the Spirit to fulfill it.

He further stated that every divine assignment is preceded by divine empowerment, which
comes from the Holy Spirit. Citing Luke 24:49, he reminded believers that just as Jesus was
anointed and went about doing good, they too must go about doing good in all their spheres of
influence. The Spirit of God within and upon believers makes them conduits of divine blessings,
with the ultimate goal being the salvation of souls.

Pastor Eghan urged believers to let their lives be agents of transformation for everyone they
encounter. He warned against carrying the Holy Spirit without affecting lives. Referring to John
7:39, he emphasized that those who believe will have rivers of living water flowing from within
them. If Jesus gives life and light, then His followers must do the same. He encouraged
believers to rise and manifest Christ, making it clear to those around them who they carry and
who lives within them.

Finally, he explained that the Spirit within a person defines them, as believers reflect the Holy
Spirit in their lives (Isaiah 11:1-2). He concluded by affirming that the Spirit of the Lord enables
excellence, urging the Church to live out this reality in all they do.
